Good bones. The 1 Inch takes its name from the square recycled-aluminium tube — one inch across — from which its light, very strong frame is shaped. It is built using the 77-step craft process Emeco developed in 1944.

Designed in 2017 by Jasper Morrison, this version pairs the 80 % recycled aluminium frame with a seat in 100 % recycled polypropylene blended with wood fibres. The frame comes in hand-brushed aluminium or black powder-coated.

Eight colours, for indoor and outdoor use

The recycled-plastic seats are approved for outdoor use: terrace, café, restaurant or dining room. Stacks six high, delivered fully assembled. TPU glides for every use.

Responsible manufacturing

Made in Hanover, Pennsylvania. Recycled aluminium takes 95 % less energy than new aluminium and can be recycled endlessly. Carbon footprint: 16.82 kg CO₂e. Indoor warranty 7 years, outdoor 3 years. ANSI/BIFMA X5.1 standard.
