Collection: Designer Bar Stools

In-house editions and curated pieces: Camarade by Big-Game, Navy Stool by Emeco, Rowac Schemel. Beech, steel, recycled aluminium.

Three families, three logics

Camarade is an Antifer edition designed by Geneva-based studio Big-Game: low stool, high stool, gas-lift adjustable bar stool 59-78 cm, solid Jura beech and lacquered steel, made in France.

Emeco has been producing the Navy Stool 1006 in Hanover, Pennsylvania, since 1944, from 80% recycled aluminium in a 77-step manual process. Rowac Schemel is the reissue of the world's first riveted sheet-steel seat, created in 1909 by Robert Wagner in Chemnitz — the archetypal workshop stool, used in the Bauhaus workshops.

Material, use, height

The choice starts with use: 45 cm for a low side or workshop stool, 65 cm for a counter or residential island, 75-80 cm for a bar or high island. The adjustable Camarade covers the 59-78 cm range with one gesture.

On materials: the anodised aluminium of the Emeco 1006 is approved for outdoor use, corrosion-free, fireproof. Rowac's riveted steel bends rather than breaks under overload. The solid beech of Camarade, sanded and oiled, develops patina with the years.

Frequently asked questions

Height is what matters. 45 cm for a low side seat, 65 cm for a standard worktop, 75-80 cm for a high bar or island, or 59-78 cm gas-lift if the use varies.

Three families here. The Camarade by Big-Game, solid European beech and steel, made in France in three heights (low, high, gas-lift adjustable). The Emeco 1006 Navy Stool, the American 100% recycled aluminum classic, hand-made since 1944, guaranteed 150 years. The Rowac Schemel, faithful reissue of the 1909 Bauhaus workshop stool, riveted by hand in Saxony.

None is built to be forgotten — each has a use. Pro tariff on request for projects.

What stool height for a kitchen?

A standard worktop is 90 to 92 cm: choose a stool with a 65 cm seat. For a high island at 105-110 cm, choose 75 to 80 cm. Allow 25 to 30 cm between seat and top. The adjustable Camarade (59-78 cm) fits both configurations.

Can the Navy Stool 1006 stay outdoors?

Yes. Emeco's anodised aluminium is non-corrosive, non-magnetic and fireproof; it has been approved for permanent outdoor use since 1944. Only the standard TPU glides wear over time; dedicated outdoor glides are available.

What sets the Rowac Schemel apart from industrial copies?

The Rowac Schemel is hand-made in the Ore Mountains, forty kilometres from Chemnitz, to the original 1909 drawings. Riveted (not welded) construction, PEFC wood, 4 bases × 4 species = 16 possible combinations. Many original examples are still in service after more than a hundred years.

What are the delivery times?

4 to 7 days for items held in our warehouses; 3 to 10 weeks for models in transit from the workshop of origin. The lead time is indicated on each product page. If an order mixes several lead times, the longest applies unless stated otherwise.

Can I order for a professional project?

Yes. We work regularly with interior architects, hospitality studios and restaurateurs. Direct contact for a named quote and volume-adapted terms.
