Variand wall rail with LED lighting

The Variand wall rail with integrated LED lighting brings a luminous dimension to the modular system. The LED strip sits in a profile closed by an opal diffuser; its warm white light (3,000 K) gives ambient lighting and lights work surfaces. The light is switched on and off by a toggle switch on the cable.

Installation

The rail is screwed to the wall through pre-drilled holes; all-purpose screws and wall plugs are supplied, and wooden plugs in the colour of the rail cover the screws. The LED transformer is fitted to the back of the rail during installation. The cable plugs into a wall socket; where a cable outlet for a light fitting exists at the rail's position, the rail can be connected with no visible cable. Variand recommends that the electrical components be connected by a professional.

Uses

Kitchen, living room, study or hallway: the rail lights the wall and, like every Variand rail, carries the system's modules.

Care

The wooden surfaces are protected by a clear water-based lacquer. A soft cloth and a little water are enough; avoid harsh cleaning products.

Frequently asked questions

Is the light dimmable?
No: this version is switched on and off with the switch on the cable. At Variand, dimming is reserved for the remote-controlled version.

Which walls can the rail be fixed to?
Any sound wall: concrete, brick, timber or load-bearing plasterboard. Porous walls in older buildings call for caution.

Variand is designed in Cologne and made in South Tyrol (Italy) and its surroundings, in collaboration with local craftsmen. The system received the German Design Award 2023.
