w242 Pastille Lamp – Table Lamp – Aluminum. Wastberg
A disc of pure light. Evolution.
How can you illuminate a space without cluttering it? Designers Sam Hecht and Kim Colin explored the concept of "visual reduction." The lamp is simply a vertical line and a disc. No visible wires, no complex buttons. The idea is to create a floating "particle of light," a graphic presence rather than a bulky object.
The w242 marks the transition from composite to precision aluminum. This material allows for increased structural finesse while naturally dissipating heat. Unlike a directional spotlight, its wide diffuser creates a soft and even downward beam of light , ideal for working or reading without glare.
Diffused Light (Downlight):It does not project a tight beam but generously illuminates the surface under the lamp (table, book, keyboard).
Aluminum body:A robust metal construction that acts as a heat sink.
Fluid Joint:Freedom of movement thanks to a pivot at the base and a rotating head to direct the light beam.
Intuitive Ergonomics:A single button at the top of the stem to turn on and vary the intensity (dimmable).
Visual Purity:No cables pass through the joints.

A wide diffusion of quality light
Thanks to a perfect balance between a COB LED light source, a large reflector, and a generous concave diffuser, the w242 Pastille alu offers warm and soft lighting. Smooth dimming is controlled with a simple press of the button located at the top of the vertical stem.
A smooth rotation
By pivoting smoothly up and down and on its own axis, the w242 Pastille alu articulates freely to create a soft and diffused light, while offering a definition that is both delicate and precise.
Recycled and recyclable aluminum
Aluminum is not only a classic, time-tested, and infinitely recyclable material; its strength and lightness allow for robust and resource-efficient designs. The w242 Aluminum Disc is made from partially recycled aluminum, which can itself be recycled at the end of its long lifespan.
Minimal bulk, maximum flexibility
The w242 Aluminum Pad adapts to a wide variety of spatial configurations while occupying minimal space. In addition to the classic desktop model, a wide range of mounting options allows it to be clamped onto a desk or shelf, mounted to the wall, placed on the floor, or integrated directly into a surface (desk or wall) without any visible cables.
Full spectrum LED
Designed to recreate the full, uninterrupted color spectrum of sunlight, full-spectrum light possesses a rich, deep quality impossible to achieve with the limited spectrum of a standard LED. It also offers superior color rendering, making it an ideal choice for environments where accurate color perception is essential.
Raw
The w242 Aluminum Pastille is available in a textured raw aluminum finish, without any added coating or protective treatment. This allows for resource-efficient production, easy recycling, and a graceful aging process. From the outset, its naturally textured surface offers a rich tactile depth, with any marks from the manufacturing process only adding to its character. Over time, stains, fingerprints, and oxidation will evolve into a beautiful and unique patina.
