Lines that transcend time.
Antifer was born from a conviction: exceptional furniture is not a matter of trend, but of precision. We reissue forgotten classics and publish new iconic pieces. Each piece of furniture fulfills a genuine need, with an economy of means that, over time, becomes a signature.
In the 1950s, the Iron Rite Health Chair wasn't designed to be beautiful. It was designed to be robust.
This chair embodied a simple principle: utility first.
Today, these pieces have become icons because they carry a timeless truth: what is well-designed transcends decades.
Antifer: the essentials, nothing but the essentials
"Good design is the least amount of design possible," to quote Dieter Rams.
Our name, Antifer, comes from Jules Verne. It's a landmark, an anchor point. We don't compromise on quality. We don't produce just to fill a catalog. Each piece must justify its place through its design and function.

The art of the carpenter
Since 1964, the Bastiat family has been manufacturing chairs in Hagetmau, in the heart of the Landes region.
Three generations have succeeded one another in this workshop, which combines traditional know-how and precision tools. Sologne oak, Jura beech: all the wood species used come from sustainably managed forests.
Here, wood is worked with meticulous precision. The cuts are robot-controlled for accuracy to a tenth of a millimeter. The finishing touches, however, remain manual: sanding, inspection, and assembly. This combination of technology and precise technique guarantees consistent quality, piece after piece.
The result: furniture that embodies the exacting standards of French craftsmanship, seating whose patina improves with time."
