From 111 to 170

The 111 Navy collection has been made in the USA since 2010. We started by making these chairs from 111 used plastic bottles, hence the name. However, after a decade of continuous engineering, we now repurpose at least 170 bottles per chair. Every little helps.

Low carbon footprint.

Recycled aluminum allows us to keep the carbon footprint of our products exceptionally low. To put this in context, a chair made from virgin materials typically has a footprint of 30 to 60 kg CO2e. This, combined with the long lifespan of our products, ensures that our furniture has a minimal impact on the planet.

Innovation

In 2006, Emeco and Coca-Cola joined forces to solve an environmental problem: preventing used plastic bottles from ending up in landfills and oceans.

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET), used in billions of plastic bottles every year, is probably the most common plastic on earth.

In 2006, Coca-Cola approached Emeco to solve an environmental problem: transforming used plastic bottles into an iconic, durable structural element through upcycling. Emeco took up the challenge, using flexible recycled PET plastic, originally intended for short-lived fabrics and textiles, to build a robust, one-piece, scratch-resistant chair. The development process required both determination and patience. Finally, in 2010, the 111 Navy chair was launched.
