The Ostrea marine terrazzo
Transform your home with a top in recycled-shell terrazzo. Each year, French shellfish farming produces 250,000 tonnes of shells, of which 95 % are buried. Ostrea captures this resource to create a high-performance material: 65 % scallop or oyster shell flakes + 35 % mineral matrix, with no resin.
Three materials, one mineral signature
Natural Scallop: Bright ivory terrazzo speckled with iridescent micro-fragments. Ultra-fine texture reminiscent of Venetian terrazzo, discreet sophistication. Subtle iridescence catching the light.
Natural Oyster: Elegant pearl-grey terrazzo with silvery reflections. Nordic freshness, micro-flakes creating an almost monochrome texture. Refinement through restraint.
Black Scallop: Deep-black terrazzo dotted with cream fragments. Maximum sophistication, assertive graphic presence. Discreet, near-monochrome luxury.
Singularity
Each top is unique: slight tonal variations are inherent to the nature of the flakes.

A terrazzo born of the sea
Each year, French shellfish farming generates close to 250,000 tonnes of shells from oysters, mussels and scallops, nearly all of which end up buried in technical landfill. Ostrea responds to this silent waste from a workshop near Rennes, by reinventing terrazzo — the mineral composite born in fifteenth-century Venice — replacing crushed marble with shell shards from the Atlantic coast. The result: a mineral, living material, where each tabletop carries the memory of a shoreline.
55 % shells. 0 % resin.
The Ostrea formulation rests on a precise balance: 55 % shell flakes (oysters, scallops) and 45 % of a patented mineral matrix, with no resin and no petroleum-based binder. The process is resolutely low-tech: shell collection and drying, calibrated flake grinding, cold assembly, natural 30-day cure — without firing or kiln — then polishing and surface treatment against stains. The tabletop shows 7.5 kg of CO₂ equivalent per m², five times less than ceramic. Density 2,200 to 2,400 kg/m³, close to natural stone.
Made in Brittany
Ostrea is 100 % conceived, sourced and manufactured in France. Shells come exclusively from French shellfish beds — Arcachon basin, Brittany coast, Norman shoreline — collected directly from oyster and mussel farmers in short circuits. Production takes place at the workshop near Rennes, following circular-economy principles. From the oyster park to the tabletop delivered to your home, traceability remains strictly regional.
Four finishes, two collections
Each Ostrea tabletop is a unique piece, declined in two collections.
Rivage Collection — Ostrea Saint-Jacques (pinkish, pearlescent shards) · Ostrea Huitres (blue-grey, luminescent).
Marine Collection — Ostrea Noir Anthracite (deep, light speckling) · Ostrea Vert d'eau (soft mineral hue, unique on the market).
Patented technology.
