The clip-on lamp, redesigned.

Inga Sempé is known for her playful repurposing of everyday objects. With "Île," she revisits the clip-on lamp from French artists' studios. The idea is to liberate light from the table: it can be clipped onto a shelf, laid flat, or hung on the wall. The lampshade evokes a parasol, adding a cheerful roundness to a purely utilitarian object.

Material & Technique: It's all about the fineness of the aluminum. The lampshade is magnetic: it stays attached to the ball joint by simple attraction, allowing for 360° rotation without any complex mechanical parts that could break. A marvel of technical simplicity, its flat base also allows it to be placed like a traditional lamp.

Hybrid binding:Supplied with a clamp for shelves and edges, but also equipped with a flat base allowing it to be simply placed on a table.

Magnetic Lampshade:A magnetic ball joint allows the hat to be oriented in all directions with absolute fluidity.

Minimal footprint:Designed to fit into small spaces, it provides a precise point of light without saturating the available surface.

COB technology:Despite its small size, it incorporates a powerful and homogeneous light source (CRI > 90).

While retaining the simplicity of the original clip-on lamp, the w153 Île incorporates refined technical solutions to meet contemporary needs. A COB LED emits a warm, soft white light, while a magnetic ball joint construction allows for smooth and precise adjustment of the aluminum shade.

The w153 Island provides ample light for use as a bedside reading lamp, while also readily playing a decorative role by adding a touch of light and color where needed. Designer Inga Sempé

French designer Inga Sempé, born in Paris, graduated from ENSCI-Les Ateliers (École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle, Paris) in 1993. She opened her own studio in 2000. Early in her career, she collaborated with the Italian fashion houses Cappellini and Edra. Today, Inga Sempé works with, among others, Scandinavian, Italian, and French companies such as HAY, Ligne Roset, Wästberg, Magis, Alessi, LucePlan, Mutina, Iittala, Moustache, Svenskt Tenn, and Gärsnäs. She lives and works in Paris, assisted by two other designers.
