Inga Sempé is known for diverting technical objects with lightness. With «Ile» she revisits the clip-on lamp from French artists' studios. The idea is to free the light from the table: clip it to a shelf, lay it flat, hang it on the wall. The shade evokes a parasol, bringing a joyful roundness to a purely utilitarian object.

Material & Technique: Everything is in the fineness of the aluminium. The shade is magnetic: it holds onto the ball joint by simple attraction, allowing 360° orientation without any complex mechanical part that could break. A marvel of technical simplicity, where the flat base also lets it be set down like a traditional lamp.

Hybrid binding:Supplied with a clamp for shelves and edges, but also equipped with a flat base allowing it to be simply placed on a table.

Magnetic Lampshade:A magnetic ball joint allows the hat to be oriented in all directions with absolute fluidity.

Minimal footprint:Designed to fit into small spaces, it provides a precise point of light without saturating the available surface.

Designer Inga Sempé

French designer born in Paris, Inga Sempé graduated from ENSCI-Les Ateliers (École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle, Paris) in 1993. She opened her own studio in 2000. Early on, she collaborated with the Italian houses Cappellini and Edra. Today, Inga Sempé works, among others, with Scandinavian, Italian and French companies such as HAY, Ligne Roset, Wästberg, Magis, Alessi, LucePlan, Mutina, Iittala, Moustache, Svenskt Tenn and Gärsnäs. She lives and works in Paris, assisted by two other designers.
