Sam Hecht and Kim Colin founded their studio, Industrial Facility, to apply careful consideration of form, coupled with a unique understanding of contemporary life, bringing forth the beauty of utility through the products, furniture, and exhibitions they design. Hecht, originally from London, is an industrial designer by training, while Colin, originally from Los Angeles, trained as an architect.

Counting avant-garde companies such as Muji and Herman Miller among their clients, they are renowned for their philosophical yet pragmatic approach. Both have been named Royal Designers , an honor that recognizes enduring excellence in design and its significant contribution to society.
