Karimoku New Standard
Antifer is an official Karimoku New Standard retailer in Europe. The brand was founded in 2009 by Karimoku, one of Japan's leading manufacturers of wooden furniture, whose story began in 1940 with a small woodworking shop in Kariya, Aichi Prefecture. Karimoku New Standard brings together the know-how of Karimoku's craftsmen and a select group of international designers.
Wood is at the heart of the approach: Japanese hardwoods from sustainably managed forests in northern Japan, in particular small-diameter trees that are often discarded or turned into paper pulp. They are processed in regional workshops, combining cabinetmaking skill and advanced technology.
