An industrial design classic since 1965. Dismountable table base in steel tube, a reinterpretation of Egon Eiermann's famous design.

Delivered complete with screws and PVC end caps.

E2 versions are available on request — a version with offset cross-braces for desks maximising lamp space, and a 66 cm height version with adjustable feet.

The E2 base in its standard configuration is perfect for 90 % of tops (solid oak, beech, MDF, weighing between 20 and 30 kg for 200 × 90 cm). For very heavy or very large tops, reinforcements should be planned.

Looking for another style? Daniel Lorch's Sinus trestles offer an alternative in bent steel tube — stackable and minimalist. See all our design table bases.

Depths 600 mm, 700 mm, 780 mm, Custom made (contact us)
We recommend an overhang of approximately 10 cm on each short side of the tabletop. The base depth should therefore be approximately 200 mm less than that of your tabletop.

Width: 1000 mm, 1350 mm, custom made, contact us

For optimal use, the tabletop can overhang by 250 to 350 mm on each long side. The width of the base should therefore be 50 to 70 cm less than that of your tabletop. If you plan to have a storage unit under the desk (standard width 450 mm), size accordingly so that it can be positioned next to the base. For a dining table with seating at the ends, allow for an overhang of 35 to 50 cm on each side.

Height: 660 mm or 720 mm (custom made possible). Recommended height to the underside of the tabletop: 720 mm (720 mm base, or 660 mm base with height adjusters of at least 25 mm). With a 25 to 30 mm tabletop: approximately 750 mm.

Materials: Round steel tube Ø 21.3 mm, wall thickness 1.75 mm. Two sides and two crossbars. Screws and PVC outer end caps supplied. Heavy-metal-free polyester powder coating.

Weight: 6.0 to 7.5 kg depending on the version, without tabletop.

Crossbar configuration

  • Offset crossbars (use – desk, work surface)
  • Crossbars in central position (use – dining table, meeting)

Offset crossbars are suitable for tables used on one side only (desk, drawing). Central crossbars provide optimal legroom on all sides (dining tables, meetings).

TECHNICAL DETAILS: TABLETOP SUPPORTS (Option)

E2 tabletop supports are the ideal complement to maximize stability, especially on very large formats.
Sturdy design: Made from strong square tube (30×30×1 mm), they give your table a solid base. The ends are beveled at 45 degrees and drilled to allow the tabletop to be fixed directly.
Easy installation: Assembly is extremely simple: the reinforcements simply slide onto the frame end caps or onto the existing height adjusters.

Tabletop not included.

E2 — A base derived from architectural culture

A structure designed for demanding work environments

The E2 base belongs to the tradition of table systems developed for architectural studios, engineering offices and work environments where functionality takes precedence over decorative effect.
It is designed as a rational, legible and stable structure, able to withstand intensive use while maintaining great formal clarity.

Rather than a fixed object, E2 is conceived as a constructive base, intended to accept a variety of tabletops and to adapt to evolving usage contexts.

A functional and timeless aesthetic

The design of the E2 base rests on a single principle: every visible element is justified by its function.
The structure is intentionally sober, without artifice or superfluous ornament, so that the tabletop and the surrounding space can express themselves freely.

This approach, inherited from European modernism, gives E2 a timeless aesthetic, able to traverse the years without going out of style and to integrate equally into contemporary interiors or more classical settings.

A versatile system, from desk to dining table

Thanks to its different heights and configurations, the E2 base can serve equally as a desk or as a dining table.
It is compatible with a wide variety of tabletops, whether in solid wood, plywood, laminate or composite materials.

This versatility allows E2 to be considered a true system: a structure that evolves over time, accompanying changes in use or layout without losing its formal coherence or its stability.

Historically conceived for professional projects

E2-type structures have historically been used in demanding professional contexts, such as:

  • architecture studios,
  • design studios,
  • schools and creative workshops,
  • coworking spaces.

Their formal sobriety and robustness also allow a natural integration into apartments or houses, where E2 becomes a work table, a dining table or a multipurpose everyday surface.

Compatible with a wide range of tabletops

The geometry of the E2 base ensures excellent stability and reliable handling of vertical loads, including for large-format tabletops.
The structure remains intentionally legible: cross braces, supports and joints contribute directly to the solidity of the whole, without hiding their role.

This constructive legibility reinforces the perception of quality and durability, essential for furniture designed for regular and prolonged use.

Stability, load capacity and ease of use

The E2 base is conceived to accept a wide range of tabletops, whether in solid wood, plywood, laminate or technical materials.
It can also be paired with denser tabletops, provided an appropriate implementation and respect for the recommended dimensions.

This extended compatibility allows E2 to adapt to very different projects, from the individual desk to the meeting table or the dining table.

A durable choice

To choose the E2 base is to choose furniture conceived to last.
Its robust structure, timeless aesthetic and ability to adapt to different uses make it a long-term alternative to standardised or short-lived solutions.

E2 is not a mere base: it is a reliable foundation, conceived to accompany the evolution of spaces and uses while preserving a strong architectural coherence.
